Meet Danette

Name: Danette

Height: 5’3”

Even though Danette is one of the youngest players on the High Rollers team, she has been skating banked track for over 10 years. Danette played her first professional game at the age of 14 and was able to skate against top notch skaters who she has much admiration for. Danette’s favorite move is giving whips and she is capable of sending teammates off the track. 

Danette was born in Hawaii and moved to Las Vegas when she was 8. She also makes t-shirts and is the designer and manufacturer of our team's shirts. You can find out more about her t-shirt business here: ditzylimited.com

Cleaning Day

 Skating is the fun part of Roller Derby, no one ever wants to take their skates apart to clean them. But, to be a good skater, you need your skates to be in top notch performance. So, during one of our practices, our team took some time out to clean our bearings. Surprisingly, this was so much fun and the time just flew by. We truly have a great team that helps each other out to make all skaters perform at their best. 

Easter Weekend Practice

 Even though it was a holiday weekend, we were able to get together and get some practice in. We typically work on a fair amount of endurance since on the banked track, you're always moving. But, we also practiced blocking, and whips. Our sessions always end with playing Lalli-Ball, a version of soccer on the track named after our coach. Lot's of fun and a good way to burn off the chocolate bunnies.
